Honestly seasonal events in Borderlands 4 are one of the best parts of the live service model because Gearbox actually puts meaningful content behind them instead of just reskinning enemies and calling it a day, each event adds unique enemies, exclusive legendary drops, earnable cosmetics, and challenge rewards that are only available during the event window, I've played through every seasonal event since launch and here's the complete breakdown of what each one offers and how to maximize your rewards before the event ends

Bloody Harvest — Halloween Event

Bloody Harvest is the annual Halloween event that runs from late October through November and it transforms the entire game into a spooky version of itself with haunted enemies ghostly skulls floating around and the ability to enter Heck an otherworldly haunted zone filled with unique enemies and the final boss Haunt

During the event enemies will sometimes drop Hecktoplasm (green ghostly goo) which you collect to power up a device on Sanctuary III that opens the portal to Heck, once inside you fight through waves of ghosts and skeletons culminating in a boss fight against Haunt a massive ghost boss that drops the exclusive Fearmonger shotgun and the Scream of Terror shield

The Fearmonger is actually one of the most interesting shotguns in the game because it fires ghost skulls that track enemies and explode on impact, it's not the highest DPS shotgun but it's extremely satisfying to use and the tracking projectiles make it excellent for tight corridors and airborne enemies, the Scream of Terror shield creates a terror nova when it breaks which fears nearby enemies making them run away for a few seconds — great for survival builds that rely on crowd control

Bloody Harvest Farming Tip: The fastest way to farm Hecktoplasm is to run the Slaughter Shaft or Cistern of Slaughter on Mayhem 11 during the event because the high enemy density gives you more haunted enemies per run. You need 25 Hecktoplasm to open the portal. A single Slaughter Shaft run usually gives you enough. You can also farm Haunt repeatedly if you collect enough Hecktoplasm for multiple portal openings.

Revenge of the Cartels — The Best Event for Loot

Revenge of the Cartels is the seasonal event that BL4 players look forward to the most and for good reason — it has the best exclusive loot pool of any event by a wide margin, during this event cartel enemies spawn throughout the game with a chance to drop Cartel intel that leads you to the boss Joey Ultraviolet, who drops the OPQ System and the Yellowcake among others

The OPQ System assault rifle is arguably one of the best guns in the entire game with a unique alt-fire mode that creates a targeting drone that shoots at enemies while you're aiming down sights, the Yellowcake is a rocket launcher that fires a gooey projectile that splits into multiple smaller projectiles on impact creating an area of denial that's devastating against tightly-packed enemies

The Fish Slap grenade is less well-known but it's a hidden gem, it's a melee-scaling grenade meaning its damage is calculated based on your melee damage not your grenade damage, which makes it completely broken on Amara builds that stack melee damage bonuses, a Fish Slap on a melee Amara can one-shot most non-boss enemies even on Mayhem 11

Broken Hearts Day — Valentine's Event

Broken Hearts Day is the shortest seasonal event running only for about two weeks in February but it offers some decent exclusive loot that's worth grabbing, during the event enemies drop Broken Hearts currency which you turn in to a special vendor on Sanctuary III for exclusive items and cosmetics

The best rewards from the Broken Hearts Day event are the Wedding Invitation sniper rifle which fires heart-shaped bullets that deal bonus damage on crit and the Heartbreaker shotgun which shoots homing heart projectiles that return to you Lancet-style, the Heartbreaker is especially fun on FL4K because the returning projectiles can trigger additional crits

Summer Splash — New BL4 Exclusive Event

Summer Splash is a brand new event for Borderlands 4 that debuted in 2026 and it's Gearbox's first attempt at a summer-themed seasonal event, during this event there's a pool party on the Sanctuary III deck with beach balls and a special vending machine that sells exclusive seasonal gear, enemies across all planets have a chance to drop "Splash Tokens" that can be spent at the event vendor

The exclusive items from Summer Splash include the Beach Bum grenade mod which creates a pool of water that slows enemies and increases their elemental damage taken, the Sunburner pistol which deals bonus fire damage to enemies affected by splash effects, and a full set of summer-themed character skins that are only available during the event

Mercenary Day — Winter Holiday Event

Mercenary Day is the Borderlands equivalent of Christmas and it runs from mid-December through early January, during this event Maurice the Eridian fabricator has a special shop on Sanctuary III that sells event-exclusive gear for Eridium, the shop inventory refreshes daily and can include legendary weapons from other events as well as Mercenary Day exclusives

The main activity during Mercenary Day is running around the galaxy fighting "naughty" enemies that drop gift packages which contain exclusive cosmetics and weapons, there's also a special boss called Jolly the Invincible who spawns in the Dust during the event and drops a holiday-themed legendary that changes each year

Year-Round Event: Vault Card System

In addition to the seasonal events Borderlands 4 has a Vault Card system that functions as a permanent battle pass with four seasons of rewards, each Vault Card has 50 levels of rewards including exclusive legendary weapons cosmetics and Eridium bundles, the Vault Cards don't expire so you can complete them at your own pace even after the season ends

The current Vault Card (Season 4) rewards include a legendary assault rifle exclusive to the card called the Hearthbreaker which deals bonus damage to enemies affected by any status effect, this weapon is only available through the Vault Card system and cannot be farmed from any boss, so even between seasonal events there's always something to grind toward

Honestly the seasonal events in BL4 are worth planning your playtime around if you want the best gear in the game, the Revenge of the Cartels event especially is a must-grind because the OPQ System and Yellowcake are genuine S-tier weapons that make Mayhem 11 content significantly easier, mark your calendar for the next event and don't let it pass without grabbing at least the exclusive legendaries
