Honestly Moze got the short end of the stick at launch with people calling her weak and whatever but tbh once people figured out that her splash damage scaling is completely broken she became arguably the strongest Vault Hunter in the game for mobbing and ngl I've been a Moze main since day one and this build is the reason why, the basic idea is that everything you do produces explosions and those explosions trigger more explosions and eventually the screen is just numbers and fire and you can't even see what's happening but everything is dead so it doesn't matter, and the best part is that you basically never run out of ammo ever and Iron Bear scales with Mayhem levels separately from Moze so at Mayhem 10 the mech does genuinely absurd damage that melts bosses in seconds, anyway here's the full breakdown from the skill tree to the exact grenade mod that makes the whole thing work
Core Engine: Demolition Woman + Splash Scaling
The entire build centers on Moze's unique interaction with splash damage — she gets bonuses to splash that no other character can access and when you stack them correctly your splash damage scales multiplicatively into the millions, the Demolition Woman tree is your primary investment and it's honestly one of the most overloaded skill trees in any Borderlands game, three skills here form the absolute core of the build and if you don't max all three you're literally leaving half your damage on the table
Demolition Woman Key Skills
Fire in the Skag Den (5/5)
Every time you deal splash damage you get a stacking fire rate and damage bonus, and since every weapon in your loadout deals splash damage you're permanently at max stacks, this is honestly the single biggest damage multiplier in Moze's entire kit and it's not even close
Short Fuse (Capstone)
Gun damage has a 20% chance to trigger a secondary explosion based on your gun's damage, and this secondary explosion counts as splash damage which then triggers Fire in the Skag Den and Means of Destruction, so you're getting double procs on every fifth shot and the math on this cascades in a really satisfying way
Means of Destruction (3/3)
Splash damage has a chance to return ammo and grenades, and because everything you do is splash damage your ammo never goes down and your grenades regenerate so fast you can basically throw them on cooldown, this is what makes the build feel infinite and it's honestly the quality of life skill that makes Moze fun to play
Vampyr (5/5)
Splash damage heals you for a percentage of missing health, and with the Cloning Maddening Tracker grenade hitting 18 times per throw you're getting 18 separate healing ticks, so every grenade toss is basically a full heal and you're throwing grenades constantly, I mean you literally can't die unless you get one-shot and even then Tenacious Defense in the red tree gives you a safety net
From the Bottomless Mags tree you want Redistribution for passive ammo regen and Forge for even more ammo regen because honestly Moze's ammo economy is so broken with this build that you can fire a full-auto launcher for 5 minutes straight and your ammo counter will barely move, it's honestly kind of ridiculous and I'm not even sure it's working as intended but Gearbox hasn't patched it so we're running with it
Splash Weapon Loadout
- Flipper (SMG) — 9 projectiles per shot for 1 ammo and all 9 count as splash damage, so every trigger pull procs Means of Destruction 9 times and Fire in the Skag Den stacks instantly, plus with the elemental variants you can cover every damage type and the 9 projectiles create this wall of death that nothing can walk through, best in slot for mobbing and honestly competitive for bossing too
- Backburner (Rocket Launcher) — The boss killer, fires a slow orb that rains mortars down and since the mortars all count as splash damage you get full synergy, on large hitbox bosses like Graveward or the Warden every single mortar projectile connects and the damage is honestly hard to look at because the numbers overlap and you can't even read them
- Kaoson (SMG) — Sticky projectiles that explode after a short delay and both the impact and the explosion are splash damage, so you're doubling up on Fire in the Skag Den procs and Means of Destruction triggers, it also has a really satisfying rhythm to the gameplay where you stick a bunch of projectiles on a target and then they all detonate at once and the enemy just ceases to exist
- Plaguebearer (Rocket Launcher) — Fires an orb that continuously spawns homing projectiles while it travels, and each homing projectile is splash damage, this is your room-clearing weapon for mobbing sections and tbh it's so effective that you can fire one shot and then just stand there watching everything die for the next 5 seconds, it's almost boring but like satisfying-boring you know
Grenade Mod & Class Mod
Cloning Maddening Tracker (Grenade)
This grenade is the single most important piece of gear for this entire build and honestly I'd argue it's the best grenade in the game for any character, it splits into 2 on throw then each of those splits into 3 more and each of the 6 tracks a target detonating 3 times, so you're getting 18 splash damage hits per grenade toss and every single one triggers Vampyr for healing and Means of Destruction for ammo regen, it drops from any loot source with the right parts combination so it's a pain to farm but it's absolutely the heart of the build and you should not even play Moze without one, like seriously go farm it right now if you don't have one
Mind Sweeper or Blast Master (Class Mod)
Mind Sweeper gives critical hits a chance to spawn a micro-grenade that deals splash damage and those micro-grenades trigger Fire in the Skag Den and Means of Destruction and can crit themselves spawning more micro-grenades, so you get these chain reactions where one crit turns into like 15 explosions and a regular enemy evaporates in a frame, it's better for mobbing where you're landing lots of headshots. Blast Master gives up to +100% splash damage as long as you don't reload and since Means of Destruction constantly refills your magazine you basically never reload, this one is better for boss fights where you want consistent max damage without relying on crit RNG, tbh I keep both and swap based on the situation
Iron Bear Setup
Dual Vanquisher Rocket Pods
Equip Iron Bear with double Vanquisher Rocket Pods because they deal splash damage natively and benefit from all your splash damage skills including Fire in the Skag Den and Short Fuse, at Mayhem 10 Iron Bear's damage scales independently from Moze and the Vanquisher pods hit for millions per salvo, you can literally hop into Iron Bear melt a boss in 5 seconds and hop back out with full health and shields and zero ammo spent, it's honestly like having a delete button on a cooldown and for things like the Maliwan Takedown bridge section you just pop Iron Bear and clear the entire encounter without firing a single Moze bullet
Mayhem 10/11: Undisputed Mobbing Queen
On Mayhem 10/11 this build is S-tier for mobbing and honestly probably the best mobbing build in the entire game even above Amara's elemental build just because of how mindless it is, you don't need to aim you don't need to match elements you just fire the Plaguebearer in the general direction of enemies and everything dies while you regenerate ammo and health constantly, and then for tough enemies you swap to the Flipper or hop into Iron Bear and delete them in seconds, the only weakness is that Moze herself is a bit slow and doesn't have a movement speed option like Zane or Amara so for speed farming runs she's not optimal, but for pure killing efficiency at Mayhem 10/11 she has no equal and I've cleared every piece of endgame content in the game with this exact build without ever feeling like I was struggling, and ngl the dopamine hit of watching 50 explosions go off at once and seeing your health bar never dip below 100% is basically why I still play this game after 500 hours
