BL4 Agonizer 9000 - Conveyor Belt Boss Farming Guide

The Agonizer 9000 is a massive train-like boss on the conveyors of Guts Canyon and honestly it has one of the best dedicated loot pools for Moze builds, the fight requires crippling its leg joints to expose the core and I've died to this thing so many times before learning the mechanics but once you get the rhythm down it becomes one of the most profitable and consistent farms in the game, especially if you're a Moze player looking for Lucky 7 and Breathing Dragon drops and stuff like that

Detailed Fight Strategy

The Agonizer 9000 fight takes place in Guts Canyon on this massive conveyor belt system and I'm not gonna lie the first time I dropped in I had absolutely no idea what was happening and died in like 15 seconds, the arena has multiple conveyor belts running in different directions with side platforms you can jump to for safety, the Agonizer itself is this enormous train-like construct that moves along the belts and the whole fight mechanic revolves around crippling its four leg joints, each leg you destroy reduces its movement and attack capabilities and destroying all four exposes the core for maximum damage, it's one of those fights that seems impossible at first but once you learn the pattern it becomes almost rhythmic and honestly it's one of my favorite boss encounters in the game because it's mechanically interesting instead of just being a bullet sponge with a big health bar, so when you drop into the arena immediately get on one of the side platforms, the conveyor belts constantly push you toward the Agonizer and its crusher so standing on the belt is not where you want to be trust me I learned that the hard way, the side platforms are safe zones that give you a clear angle to shoot the leg joints and you should focus one leg at a time, the legs have separate health bars and a leg breaks when its bar depletes and you'll see a sparking and stumbling animation when a leg is crippled, once all four are broken the core opens up and takes massive bonus damage and that's your window to unload everything you have

But here's the thing about the attacks. The Cannon Barrage is his main ranged attack, six cannons fire in a volley with splash damage and strafing sideways on the side platforms avoids most of it. The Conveyor Sweep is an environmental hazard where the belts suddenly speed up and try to pull you into the crusher at the front of the Agonizer, jump to a side platform immediately. The Leg Crush is the most dangerous attack and the one that's killed me more than anything else, the Agonizer lifts up and slams down on the belt you're standing on, watch for the shadow on the ground because that's your tell, jump to an adjacent belt or platform when you see it. He also deploys mines on the conveyor path and you can shoot the mines to detonate them early, and you should because they block your movement. Ammo is a real problem in this fight too because you're shooting constantly at leg joints with high HP, bring an ammo regen solution or be prepared to run to the ammo crates during the fight, running out of ammo with one leg left is the most frustrating way to die I've experienced in this game

Best Vault Hunters for This Boss

Moze is hands down the best Vault Hunter for the Agonizer 9000 and it's really not close, Short Fuse explosions with a Flakker can hit multiple leg joints at the same time sometimes crippling two legs in one burst which is just insane, Iron Bear is also immune to the conveyor belt mechanics because the mech doesn't get pushed around, and Moze's ammo regen from Forge and Redistribution means you never run out during this ammo-hungry fight, a Blast Master Moze with a Flakker is basically the speed kill setup for this boss and I've gotten my clear time down to about 45 seconds with this setup which is stupid fast for how much loot drops, FL4K is decent because Fade Away crits on the leg joints chunk them fast but the issue is FL4K's pet gets crushed by the Leg Crush constantly and you lose the damage bonus from Barbaric Yawp which is kind of annoying tbh, Amara can work and Ties That Bind doesn't help much here since there aren't adds but her elemental damage bonuses and sustain are solid, Zane struggles the most because his kill skill reliance doesn't work well without adds and the conveyor belts mess with his movement-based damage bonuses, so ranking is Moze then FL4K then Amara then Zane and honestly if you have a geared Moze just use her for this farm it's not worth the frustration on other characters

Mayhem Mode Differences

At M4+ the leg joints get significantly tankier and you really need to focus one leg at a time, spreading damage across multiple legs just makes the fight take forever. The conveyor belts also move faster at higher Mayhem which sounds like a small thing but it makes positioning way more annoying. At M6+ the mines do enough damage to one-shot through shields so shooting them becomes mandatory rather than optional. And at M10 the Agonizer 9000 is actually one of the more manageable M10 farms if you have a good Moze build, the leg health scaling is rough but Short Fuse explosions ignore a lot of that, the dedicated drops at M10 are excellent too with Lucky 7 and Breathing Dragon both being top tier weapons and the Major Kong launcher being one of the best in the game, modifier wise Speed Demon helps with belt navigation, Big Kick Energy can launch you off the side platforms which is bad, Laser Fare and Post Mortem make the already-cramped arena even worse, Dazed and Infused is the usual reroll, one surprisingly good modifier is Galaxy Brain because the leg joints are easier to hit, and Buddy System is terrible here because the flying buddies get in the way of your shots on the leg joints, I've wiped so many times to Buddy System runs that I just reroll it immediately now you know

Speed Farming Tips

This is one of the best farms in the game for Moze mains and I've probably run this boss over a hundred times at this point so lemme tell you what works, the checkpoint near Guts Canyon is maybe 20 seconds from the arena entrance and there's a vending machine right there which is super convenient, the Moze speed kill uses a Flakker with a Blast Master class mod and the Flakker's projectiles explode in a pattern that covers all four leg joints so you can cripple multiple legs simultaneously, combined with Short Fuse procs you can sometimes break all four legs in under 15 seconds and then the core phase takes maybe 10 more seconds, if you're not playing Moze the strategy is still simple but slower, focus the front legs first because those control the crusher and once the front legs are broken the Conveyor Sweep stops being dangerous because there's no crusher to pull you toward, then break the back legs and burn the core, bring a high-damage single-target weapon for the leg joints and a splash weapon for the core phase, the Lucky 7 pistol is actually amazing for the core phase if you can get a good roll on the random effects, the speed farm loop of spawn run kill loot quit takes about 60 seconds total with Moze and the dedicated drops make this one of the most profitable farms in the game IMO, I've gotten multiple god roll Lucky 7s from this farm and it never gets old seeing that orange beam shoot up into the sky or whatever

Common Death Causes

Getting crushed by the Leg Crush is the number one death and I cannot tell you how many times I've died to this while focusing too hard on shooting legs, the Agonizer lifts up and the shadow appears on the ground but people are focused on shooting and don't notice, always keep an eye on the boss model not just your crosshair, the shadow gives you about 1.5 seconds to move which is enough if you react immediately. The conveyor belts pulling you into the crusher is the second biggest killer and the crusher is an instant kill if you get pulled in, the moment you feel the belt speeding up jump to a side platform and don't try to finish your damage rotation. The mines are sneaky too, they're small and hard to see on the moving conveyor belts and they explode for way more damage than you'd expect, shoot any mine you see immediately. And don't stand on the conveyor belts longer than you have to, the side platforms are safe from belts and mines and most of the Cannon Barrage, the only attack that can hit you on side platforms is the Cannon Barrage and some splash from Leg Crush so basically live on the side platforms, last thing ammo burns through fast in this fight so bring an ammo regen solution or know where the crates are, honestly running out of ammo with one leg left is the most frustrating way to die and I've had it happen more times than I'd like to admit
