Infinite ammo and massive splash damage and the Iron Bear mech, honestly Moze never stops shooting and Bottomless Mags combined with Demolition Woman turns every weapon into a bullet hose of destruction, I've been a Moze main since launch and there's just nothing like holding down the trigger for two minutes straight while the entire screen is on fire and your health bar never moves because Vampyr is healing you through everything and Iron Bear is sitting there as your emergency nuke button, she's the character that feels most like a traditional Borderlands power fantasy and I love her for it, you don't need to think about positioning or cooldowns or anything you just shoot and things die and it's beautiful, I'm not 100% sure she's the strongest character overall but honestly she might be because nothing else in the game can match the sustained damage output of a properly built Moze with a Flakker and Short Fuse procs going off every half second or whatever
Skill Trees
Bottomless Mags
Never reload, magazine size and ammo regeneration and fire rate bonuses, and Forge capstone constantly regenerates ammo so pair with Vladof for infinite bullet hoses. This tree alone makes Moze feel completely different from every other character because the concept of reloading just stops existing and it's glorious, like you genuinely forget where the reload button is after playing this tree for a while.
| Tier | Skill | Effect | Max Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cloud of Lead | Every 4th shot doesn't consume ammo, +bonus incendiary damage | 5 |
| 1 | Matched Set | Magazine size bonus for each matching manufacturer equipped | 5 |
| 2 | Stoke the Embers | Increased incendiary damage | 3 |
| 2 | Redistribution | Crit hits regenerate ammo in magazine | 1 |
| 3 | Scrappy | Increased weapon swap speed, handling, and damage | 5 |
| 3 | Rushin' Offensive | Can shoot while sprinting, lifesteal while moving | 1 |
| 4 | Scorching RPMs | Increased fire rate, critical hit damage | 5 |
| 5 | Some for the Road | Unlimited ammo for 5 seconds after exiting Iron Bear | 1 |
| 6 | Forge | Constantly regenerate ammo for current weapon | 1 |
Demolition Woman
Splash damage is everything, grenade capacity and splash radius and explosive damage, and Short Fuse triggers random explosions on gun damage. This tree is where the real chaos comes from and it's easily Moze's highest damage tree by a mile, like the difference between having Short Fuse and not having it is night and day and I honestly think this might be the single best capstone skill in the entire game.
| Tier | Skill | Effect | Max Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fire in the Skag Den | Splash damage adds bonus incendiary damage | 5 |
| 1 | Means of Destruction | Splash damage returns ammo and grenades | 3 |
| 2 | Torgue Cross-Promotion | Chance to double splash radius | 5 |
| 2 | Pull the Holy Pin | Grenades can crit, increased grenade crit chance | 3 |
| 3 | Auto Bear | Iron Bear stays active for 15s after exiting | 1 |
| 3 | Vampyr | Grenade damage restores health | 5 |
| 4 | Why Can't I Carry All These Grenades | Increased grenade capacity | 3 |
| 4 | To the Last | Throw grenade on Fight For Your Life | 1 |
| 5 | Explosive Punctuation | Splash damage increases action skill cooldown | 5 |
| 6 | Short Fuse | Gun damage has 20% chance to trigger secondary explosion | 1 |
Shield of Retribution
Tank and spank, shield capacity and gun damage at low health and survivability, and Desperate Measures gives massive gun damage the lower your health goes. You get the idea, this is the survivability tree for when you want to be unkillable while still doing damage, and with a Bloodletter class mod and Deathless artifact you can get shield capacity into the hundreds of thousands which is just stupid.
| Tier | Skill | Effect | Max Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Selfless Vengeance | Reloading drains health, adds incendiary to next mag | 5 |
| 1 | Security Bear | Iron Bear gains bubble shield | 1 |
| 2 | Armored Infantry | Increased gun damage and damage reduction | 5 |
| 2 | Drowning in Brass | Kill skill: increased gun damage per stack | 5 |
| 3 | Thin Red Line | Reserves health for shields, increased shield capacity | 3 |
| 3 | Full Can of Whoop-Ass | Entering Iron Bear resets shields, increased Iron Bear damage | 1 |
| 4 | Experimental Munitions | Crit hits deal bonus incendiary splash | 1 |
| 5 | Behind the Iron Curtain | Increased shield recharge rate and delay | 3 |
| 5 | Desperate Measures | Increased gun damage the lower your health | 3 |
| 6 | Tenacious Defense | Shield break restores 40% shield, boosts gun damage 30s | 1 |
Best Moze Builds
Blast Master Moze - Splash Build
The highest sustained DPS in the game, stack splash damage and never reload, and this is the build that makes other players in your party feel inadequate, like they're running around trying to kill things and you're just standing there holding left click and everything is dead and they're wondering what happened
Primary tree Demolition Woman with Short Fuse capstone, secondary Bottomless Mags for Forge infinite ammo, class mod Blast Master giving up to 100% bonus splash damage at max stacks which is just ridiculous, shield Old God matching element or Re-Volter, artifact Pearl of Ineffable Knowledge or Victory Rush, weapons Flipper Unkempt Harold Plaguebearer Kickcharger and basically anything that goes boom and stuff
Iron Bear Mech Build
Let the mech do the work, Iron Bear scales into endgame with the right mayhem scaling, and honestly you can just sit in the mech and let it solo content which is kind of hilarious and maybe not the most engaging playstyle but definitely effective
Primary tree Shield of Retribution with Security Bear and Full Can of Whoop-Ass, secondary Demolition Woman for Auto Bear, class mod Raging Bear where Iron Bear kills increase duration and damage, Iron Bear weapons Vanquisher Rocket Pods or Miniguns with Explosive rounds, equip any weapon with +160% Iron Bear anointments for the massive bonus
Bottomless Mags Infinite Ammo
Hold the trigger forever, best for COV and Vladof weapons, and you literally forget what the reload button does which is kind of hilarious and honestly makes it hard to go back to any other character
Primary tree Bottomless Mags with Forge Redistribution and Cloud of Lead, secondary Demolition Woman for Fire in the Skag Den, class mod Mind Sweeper where crits drop micro-grenades, weapons Shredifier Faisor underbarrel Light Show Monarch and stuff like that, manufacturers Vladof COV and Torgue are your friends here, you get the idea with the gear setup and once everything clicks you'll wonder why you ever played any other character
Best Weapons for Moze
| Weapon | Type | Synergy | Manufacturer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flipper | SMG | 9 projectiles, all trigger Short Fuse | Maliwan |
| Unkempt Harold | Shotgun | 7 explosive rounds, massive splash | Torgue |
| Shredifier | AR | Double barrel, infinite ammo with Forge | Vladof |
| Yellowcake | RPG | Splits into 3, radiation splash | COV |
| Plaguebearer | RPG | Homing projectiles spawn from kills | Maliwan |
| Kaoson | SMG | Sticky grenades on hit | Dahl |
Moze Leveling Guide
Starting out you want Demolition Woman with Fire in the Skag Den which gives immediate splash value and makes the early game feel way better and honestly the first ten or so levels are a breeze with this setup. Then dip into Bottomless Mags for Cloud of Lead and ammo sustain, you'll notice your ammo economy improving immediately and it just feels smoother overall. After that rush Demolition Woman capstone Short Fuse for massive DPS spike, this is where Moze goes from good to ridiculous and you'll probably start laughing at how fast things die, I remember hitting this power spike and just running through the rest of the campaign without ever feeling threatened. In the later levels fill Bottomless Mags or Shield of Retribution depending on whether you want more damage or more survivability and both are fine honestly, and for Mayhem respec into Blast Master build and focus on splash scaling because that's where Moze's endgame power really comes from, I've seen people try to make non-splash Moze work at Mayhem 10 and it's just so much harder for no reason, and the Cloning Maddening Tracker grenade is probably the single most important piece of gear for Moze endgame and I'd farm for that before anything else if I were starting fresh or whatever, also don't sleep on the CMT because it literally makes you immortal when combined with Vampyr and I'm pretty sure it's the best grenade in the game for Moze specifically
